Cat VSD

Sonopath Forum

  • 9 year old FN Persian
  • Intermittent HL weakness
  • Increased proBNP and murmur
  • I thought it was a VSD but now not sure, just a severe septal bulge and HCM?

To me

Hi!

Thanks for posting

To me it looks more like HCM and dynamic outflow obstruction, alltough I did not get a comlete impression of the left outflow tract. Of course, VSD and HCM can occur concomitantly, but this is still less likely.

Re your settings: I would strongly recommend increasing the PRF to at lest 0.8 m/s, otherwise weak signals are displayed and color bleeding occurs. High PRF settings give you a much better impression of jets/turbulence. Usually I use 0.9-1.2 m/s for interrogation of the LVOT/Mitral valve and 0.6-0.7 for the tricuspid valve.
