Cat kidneys

Sonopath Forum

  • 13 year old MN DSH with intermittent gross haematuria. No reported stranguria or pollakiuria but is is overweight stressy cat.
  • Bladder appears normal, urine blood tinged, culture pending.
  • Mildly increased creatinine on bloods
  • How would you describe these kidneys and do you think they could be causing haematuria?

Interstitial nephrosis

Interstitial nephrosis pattern with cortical infarcts and some minor mineralization. Slight renal pelvic dilation and medullary rim sign. Essentially a usual cat mixed bag presentation. Infarcts, infection and possible moving small stones all can be causing hematuria here.
