DX

urethral mass, bladder calculi

Image Interpretation

The urinary bladder presented trace bladder calculi. This was considered non-obstructive at this time. The bladder itself was unremarkable with normal wall thickness and anechoic urine. The urethra in this patient revealed a mineralizing mass extending at least 3 cm caudal to the cystourethral junction and measured 0.7 cm in width. The urethral mass was also confirmed in short axis. Kidneys were unremarkable.

Outcome

Cystoscopy and ultrasound guided laser ablation is recommended in this patient.

Clinical Differential Diagnosis

Bladder – uroliths, neoplasia, resistant bacterial infection, polyploid cystitis
Kidneys – renoliths, neoplasia, pyelonephritis
