DX

Probable right adrenal gland mass

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Probable right adrenal gland mass, caval obstruction. Passive congestion and secondary ascites.

Image Interpretation

The abdomen in this patient presented a large amount of echogenic free fluid. The area cranial to the right kidney revealed a large mass that appeared to be invading the vena cava and measured 3.8 x 2.7 cm. This is likely of adrenal gland origin. This may be causing the ascites due to passive congestion and caval obstruction.
