This 7 year old MN DSH cat presented with sudden onset buphthalmos, limbic injection.

Physical exam: IOP-  OD 25,27; OS 30,31

DX

Retrobulbar mass, suspect carcinoma, lymphoma or melanoma.

Image Interpretation

ultrasound of the eye –  The anterior and posterior chambers of the eye were normal and the lens was in proper position. Periocular tissues appeared normal. However, retrobulbar space revealed a mass density that measured approximately 2.0 cm with irregular tissue impinging upon the posterior chamber and deviating it outward. Minor, regional inflammatory response was noted. Optic nerve appeared deviated and enveloped by regional inflammatory response.

Outcome

Globectomy and biopsies would be recommended along with biopsies. The regional
bone did not appear overtly involved.
