RADS -Hypovolemia, Underperfusion of the Lung, and Secondary Ileus in a 8 year old FS Pomeranian dog

History: Episode of collapse yesterday lasting about 10-15 seconds. Started on furosemide at ER. Very weak, lethargic and anorexic since. 2 episodes of vomiting.

Image Interpretation

right lateral, left lateral and VD thorax and abdomen –
Osseous structures: There was a lumbosacral transitional vertebra which is an
incidental findings here.
Extrathoracic/-abdominal soft tissues: Within normal limits.
Abdominal Structures:
The serosal detail was normal. The liver and spleen were within normal limits.
The kidneys were normal for size, shape and opacity, The urinary bladder was not
seen.
The stomach contained a mild amount of gas and was contracted. The small intesinal
loops were mildly dilated but of even diameter and mainly contained fluid. The large
intestine contained a mild amount of fecal material.
Intrathoracic structures:
The upper cervical esophagus contained a mild amount of gas on the right lateral view
which is a normal inicidental finding.
The course of the trachea was normal.
There was no mediastinal widening and no evidence of mediastinal lymph node
enlargement. There was no mediastinal shift
The cardiac silhouette was within normal limits. The major and pulmonary vessels
were thin.
The lungs were within normal limits except for the hypovascular pattern.

DX

The radiographic findings were compatible with hypovolemia and undwrperfusion of the lung. The findings are consistent with mild secondary functional ileus.

Comments

The radiographs do not identify any evidence of obstructive intestinal pathology
