Case Study

RAD – occasional bronchial/peribronchial pattern indicative of former disease in a coughing 11 year old FS Japanese Chin

This 11 year old FS Japanese Chin dog has a history of a heart murmur of 6 months duration. Presented with recent coughing.

This 11 year old FS Japanese Chin dog has a history of a heart murmur of 6 months duration. Presented with recent coughing.

DX

Normal age related thorax with occasional bronchial/peribronchial pattern, which is likely to be a consequence of former disease rather than an active bronchitis

Image Interpretation

Rads of the thorax – There is an impression of overall increased opacity of the lung, which the low inflation
of the lung, the obesity, a skin fold and the superimposition of the triceps musculature
contribute to. Occasional focal bronchial and peribronchial opacification is noted which is within the
expected range for the age of the patient.

Outcome

There is no evidence of congestive heart failure. An underlying cause of the respiratory distress could not be identified on the
radiographs.
