An 11-year-old male neutered Scottish Terrier dog was presented for hematuria with urinary incontinence. Urinalysis showed normal specific gravity (1.029), white cells and red cells. Urine culture was positive for E. coli.

Prostatic urethral and bladder mass, mineralizing. Suggestive for carcinoma. Transitional cell carcinoma or prostatic carcinoma is possible. Traumatic catheterization or ultrasound-guided FNA would be ideal in this case. There is some risk of trailing of neoplastic cells with FNA.
The urinary bladder in this patient contained a mass that involved the cystourethral junction, trigone and urethra. The mass expanded into the prostate. Color flow Doppler to the bladder mass demonstrated significant vascularity to the mass, which would suggest an aggressive neoplastic process. The prostate was enlarged and mineralized. This is likely the primary source of the mass given the mineralization and expansion of approximately 2.0 cm. Complete loss of detail was noted in the pelvic urethra and cystourethral junction. The mass invades into the submucosal and muscularis layers. However, the serosa does not appear affected. A minor amount of bladder sand was also noted.

Stent placement is an option. Guarded to poor prognosis.
