DX

Mass and node: lymphoma

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Likely lymph node mass suggestive for lymphoma or similar neoplastic invasion. Minor potential for granulomatous disease.

Image Interpretation

A large mildly heterogenous mass was noted in the region of mesenteric root lymph node and likely represents derivation from lymphatic tissue. Loss of structural integrity would suggest a neoplastic process or potentially a granulomatous lesion such as F.I.P.

Outcome

Chemotherapy was recommended, however, the cat was lost to follow up.

Clinical Differential Diagnosis

Neoplasia (lymphoma, adenocarcinoma, leiomyoma, leiomyosarcoma, mast cell tumor.) Pancreatic pathology: severe pancreatits ; Reactive lymph node, partial obstruction and/or perforation of the intestinal tract secondary to a neoplasm, foreign body, granuloma, pyogranulomatous inflammation (FIP,) abscess.

Sampling

A fine needle aspirate of the 5 cm mass/lymph node
