Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

R/O metastatic neoplasia likely sarcoma or similar metastatic process. Metastatic carcinoma is also a possibility and a minor possibility of suppurative embolic disease.

Image Interpretation

The liver presented multiple target type lesions with hyperechoic center and hypoechoic surrounding rim. There was dysruption of internal architecture. The gallbladder presented thin walls with normal, primarily anechoic content. The cystic and common bile ducts were normal. No periportal lymphadenopathy was evident. No overt structural evidence of inflammatory, infiltrative or regenerative pathology was noted.

Outcome

The patient was euthanized.

Clinical Differential Diagnosis

Metastatic neoplasia (liver/spleen/kidney/GI tract/pancreas), granulomatous disease, fungal disease

Sampling

Fine-needle aspirates were performed. Histiocytic sarcoma.
