Case Study

Gastric mass occupying the pyloric outflow, cytology high grade lymphoma in a 7 year old FS DSH cat

This 7 year old FS DSH cat presented in emaciated condition and has a palpable abdominal mass.

This 7 year old FS DSH cat presented in emaciated condition and has a palpable abdominal mass.

DX

Concentric gastric mass occupying the pyloric outflow; nonresectable. Diffuse hyperechoic liver; possible lipidosis versus underlying lymphoma.

Image Interpretation

The liver was diffusely hyperechoic to falciform fat and potentially involved in a neoplastic process. Gastric mass noted measuring 1.1 cm in wall thickness, strongly suggestive for underlying lymphoma. The mass itself measured 3.8 cm. The gastric mass was concentric entering into the pyloric outflow as well as into the gastric fundus.

Sampling

FNA of the gastric mass performed without complication.
Conclusion: high grade lymphoma
