DX

Slightly prominent residual prostate, urethritis

Image Interpretation

The prostate was slightly enlarged at 1.5 cm. Minor, hyperechoic, patchy changes were noted owing to remodeling. However, the contour was uniform. Slight mineralization was noted at the caudal aspect of the prostate. This is most likely remodeling from prior episodes of prostatitis. The post prostatic urethra appeared slightly thickened and there was some resistance to traumatic cauterization.

Outcome

Urethritis and proliferative tissue versus possible
early transitional cell carcinoma are the primary differentials; however, no distortion of
the serosal portion of the urethra was noted. Recommend treatment based on clinical
signs such as stent placement or chemotherapy if transitional cell carcinoma is found.
Three view chest radiographs especially with cranial mediastinal evaluation is
recommended. Full CNS examination would also be warranted.

Sampling

traumatic catheterization inconclusive, biopsy recommended
