This 3 year old FS Pit Bull presented with SDMA of 15 normal range 0-14), Crea 1.2 giving concern for early renal disease; sire died of renal failure

DX

There is no evidence of macromorphologic changes or abnormal function of the kidneys.

Image Interpretation

CT of the abdomen- Both kidneys present within normal limits for size, shape, architecture attenuation and excretion behavior. There is a normal and uniform nephrogram folowed by a prompt pyelogram bilaterally. There is a normal ureterogram. The position of the ureteral orifices is within normal limits.

Comments

Please note that an intravenous urogram is not a very sensitive test of the renal function in general and provides complementary structural  information to the laboratory workup.
