Case Study

CT – normal head and spine in a 5 year old FS DSH cat with lameness and CP deficits

This 5 year old FS DSH cat presented with acute lameness on the right front and hind legs. CP deficits present right front and right hind; deep pain intact

DX

The computed tomography of the head and spine (C1 – T7) is within normal limits. With the exception of a spinal intra-arachnoidal pseudocyst (which does not really fit the acute onset of clinical signs) a space occupying or enhancing intracranial or spinal lesion is unlikely based on the negative findings.

Image Interpretation

CT of the head and spine – The computed tomography of the head and spine (C1 – T7) is within normal limits.

Outcome

Ischemic, inflammatory, diffuse neoplastic, metabolic/toxic and degenerative disorders
oft he CNS however may only be demonstrated by further imaging studies such as
myelographic CT or – as the brain is included in the clinical neuroanatomic
localization – preferentially MRI.
