Case Study

This 12 year old MN DLH cat has had 3 episodes of seizure-like activity in the past 5 days. Stagggering/stumbling/disorientation.

Image Interpretation

CT of the skull:

The tooth elements 106 to 109 are absent and the associated alveolar bone presents moderate atrophy. In addition the tooth elements 307 and 409 are absent. The mesial tooth root of triadan 408 presents partial resorption in the neck region.

DX

An underlying cause of the seizural activity was not detected via CT.

Outcome

The dental findings are incidental and compatible with feline odontoclastic resorptive
lesions.
An underlying cause of the seizural activity was not detected via CT. Full blood work
and complementary CSF examination including cytology and PCR for coronavirus is
recommended to screen for systemic disease as well as pathology that may not
necessarily lead to macromorphologic changes. Extraaxial intracranial neoplasia can be
ruled out with a high degree of certainty based on CT. In case of the strong clinical
suspicion of structural intraparenchymal changes an MRI may be considered.
