This 2 year old MN Havanese dog presented for evaluation of the possibility of patellar luxation

This 2 year old MN Havanese dog presented for evaluation of the possibility of patellar luxation

DX

Left medial patellar luxation and likely intermittent right luxation

Image Interpretation

Medial patellar luxation is noted on the leLefft side as well as mild stifle joint effusion and mild osteoarthritis of the femoropatellar joint.

The right patella is within its sulcus during the scan. However the sulcus is as flat as on the left and early femoropatellar osteophytes and mild joint effusion is noted here as well.
The medial fabellae are in a distal position which is an incidental findings in toy breeds.

Outcome

The findings of the hind limb confirm the suspected medial patella luxation on the left and suggest the possibility of intermittent luxation on the right side. Both femoropatellar joints present mild osteoarthritis.
