CT – Eosinophilic panosteitis in a 27 week old M canine

This 27 week old M canine presented for shifting front limb lameness

This 27 week old M canine presented for shifting front limb lameness

DX

There is no evidence of elbow dysplasia

Image Interpretation

CT of the elbows –

A regional cloudy increase of medullary bone opacity is noted within the proximal radial meta- and diaphysis centered around the nutrient foramen/vascular channel.

Outcome

The computed tomography did not reveal any evidence of medial coronoid disease,
humeral osteochondrosis or other pathology covered under the collective term elbow
dysplasia.
However, there were findings compatible with panosteitis, which may be associated
with shifting lameness as well. Conservative management with rest, controlled total
calorie intake and pain & antiinflammatory management (NSAIDs) is recommended
