CT of the thoracic and lumbar spine, plain and post contrast – There are 8 lumbar vertebrae. The intervertebral disc between L7 and L8 reveals moderate protrusion into the ventral epidural space. The ventral epidural fat is diminished, mild dorsal deviation of the dural tube is noted.
Mild to moderate signs of ventral non-bridging spondylosis is noted within the mid-thoracic spine. No compressive myelopathy is evident here. Leftsided facet joint arthropathy with small cystic defects within the joint surface are noted on the left side at L5/6 and L6/7. This is likely an incidental finding.
No other site of compressive myelo- or neuropathy is noted. The CT findings need to be correlated with the clinical presentation. Consider further workup in case the described findings do not fully explain the clinical signs. A myelogram or MRI would be ideal to rule out other underlying causes to compressive or infiltrative myelopathy/neuropathy
