This 8 year old FS Standard Poodle has a history of sneezing and bilateral dry nasal discharge over the previous year that responded to antibiotics. Presented with left sided acute epistaxis. Fungal and bacterial cultures pending.

DX

The computed tomographic findings are compatible with chronic unspecific rhinitis

Image Interpretation

CT of the head and thorax –

Head: Mild asymmetry of the nasal conchae and turbinates between the right and the left side which at least partially is conformational, part of the asymmetric representation meets mildly destructive criteria. Mild swelling of the mucosal lining of the nasal turbinates is noted on the left side

Thorax: There is no evidence of parenchymal disease of the lung

Outcome

Chronic viral or less likely bacterial rhinitis appears to be most likely based on the findings. However, emerging fungal disease or superinfection can never be ruled out entirely which has been covered for in this case already by means of comprehensive culture.
