CT of the head – The computed tomography of the head reveals bilaterally increased, soft tissueattenuating,
non-enhancing, nasal secretions. Moderate deviation of the nasal septum is
recognized as well as subtle nasal turbinate destruction with a non-aggressive pattern. The left tympanic bulla contains a moderate amount of soft tissue-attenuating, nonenhancing
material with a meniscal surface indicating viscous fluid.
The left medial retropharyngeal and submandibular lymph nodes present mild
symmetrical enlargement with preserved short-to-long-axis ratio and enhancementpattern.
There is no sinusitis. Left-sided Otitis media with regional reactive lymphadenitis is present as well. A chronic infectious – such as viral, bacterial or parasitic – rhinitis is most likely.

There is no evidence of a foreign body or neoplasia.
There are no signs specific for fungal rhinitis. However, emerging fungal rhinitis or
superinfection is a low potential here even if unlikely based on the image features.
Rhinoscopy with sampling for bacterial and fungal cultures is advised. Consider full
otoscopic work up as well.
