This 13 yeasr old DSH cat has a 2-3 month history of nasal discharge; mass effect left nasal passage on rads.

DX

• Chronic bilateral destructive rhinitis with hyperostosis and secretory siusitis: Left > right • Generalized reactive/septic lymphadenitis

Image Interpretation

CT of the head –

The computed tomography of the head reveals extensive leftsided and moderate rightsided destruction of the nasal turbinates with generalized swelling of the mucosal lining and a large amount of fluid attenuating secretions. Mainly on the left side marked caudal nasal, nasal septal, cribriform and frontal sinus hyperostosis is noted.  The left frontal sinus lumen is obliterated by fluid attenuating secretions. A mass lesion is not identified.  The medial retropharyngeal and submandibular lymph nodes present moderate symmetric enlargement with maintaned short to long axis ratio but non-uniform enhancement pattern.

Outcome

The computed tomographic findings are suggestive for fungal rhinitis such as Cryptococcosis.
