The urinary bladder presented an apical mass. The bladder mass measured 3.3 cm. This appears to be resectable with removal of the cranial half of the urinary bladder to ensure clean margins. Deep pelvic urethral involvement cannot be entirely ruled out. However, the urethra was clean to the level of the prostate. The mass was moderately vascular. The cystourethral junction, trigone and urethra appeared to be free of evident pathology.
There was no evidence of metastatic disease.
At the time of surgery prior to intervention passage of urinary catheter would be recommended to ensure that no resistance is present all the way into the bladder to assess the deep pelvic urethral potential involvement. However, there was no sonographic indication of that in the views provided. Therefore, based on the sonogram an apical cystectomy would be recommended.
Bladder – uroliths, neoplasia, resistant bacterial infection, polyploid cystitis
Prostate – neoplasia, prostatitis, abscessation
