16-00001 CT – Normal brachycephalic conformation of the skull and spine in a 8 year old MN English Bulldog with neurological signs

This 8 year old MN English Bulldog presented with prolapsed third eyelids and mouth hanging open for 24-48 hours. Difficult swallowing, drooling

Physical Exam: Prolapsed third eyelids, lower jaw is open but can close it. Excessive amount of saliva present. No pain on palpation of jaw or throat. Ears normal. Normal rads of chest, neck and head.

DX

Typical brachycephalic conformation of the skull and spine without evidence of intracranial or cervical spinal mass effect

Image Interpretation

CT of the head and neck, plain and post contrast – The computed tomography of the brain is within normal limits. The volume of the masticatory muscles appears adequate and symmetric. There is no
abnormal contrast enhancement. The salivary glands are within normal limits. There is no evidence of compressive myelopathy throughout the cervical spine

Outcome

The computed tomography does not reveal a structural abnormality causing the clinical
signs.
Consider immune mediated as well as inflammatory and metabolic/toxic disease and
obtain neuromuscular as well as CSF samples accordingly
