This 8 year old FS DSH cat has a history of lily toxicity. Presented with hematuria and azotemia.
The left kidney presented severe dystrophic changes with cortical collapse owing to infarct and an interstitial nephrosis pattern. Pelvic calculus was noted in the left kidney and measured 3.8 cm. The right kidney revealed severe dystrophic changes, pelvic calculi and loss of corticomedullary definition. Multiple calculi were noted in the right ureter. One calculus was noted in the right proximal ureter and measured 0.24 cm. The right ureter measured approximately 0.3 cm. The right kidney presented moderate to severe hydronephrosis measuring 2.0 cm with cortical infarcts. The adrenal glands appeared normal in size with focal areas of mineralization
Ideally in this patient SUB placement would be performed with interventional radiology to decompress the right kidney and save renal function. However, subjectively both kidneys are significantly compromised. Guarded prognosis. Blood pressure measurements and urine culture are indicated.
