Ultrasound of the right stifle – Both the supra- and infrapatellar recess of the right stifle jointreveal marked capsular thickening and synovial proliferation. A moderate amount of small osteophytes is seen at the femoral trochlea/patella and at the periarticular margins of the femorotibial joint. The cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) presents as an echogenic stump at the intercondylar eminence of the tibia with ruptured fibres of uneven length resembling a long sprain injury and periligamentous effusion. Marked regional thickening of the synovial membrane is noted. The cranial horn of the medial meniscus is in situ with even surface and uniform echogenicity. Part of the caudal horn is seen in situ. The lateral meniscus reveals mild non-uniform increase in echogenicity.
