This 8 year old F Flat Coated Retriever presented with a cough of one month duration that has worsened over that time.

Image Interpretation

Rads of the thorax – The lung reveals a moderate generalized bronchointerstitial pattern with thin walled mineralized bronchi. Multifocal pulmonary osteomas are seen which is an age related incidental finding.

DX

¥ Moderate generalized bronchointerstitial pattern ¥ No evidence of a malignancy

Outcome

Consider normal geriatric changes versus allergic or infectious (viral, and unlikely bacterial/fungal) bronchitis. If the patient remains refractory to empirical therapy tracheobronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage should be considered for furtehr definition.
