- 17-week-old Female Husky
- Showing signs of aggression, food guarding/possession
- Tremors, seizure activity.
- New aniscoria
- Bite history at 12-weeks
- Normal Bile acids and full bloods normal as well.
Considering liver biopsy for Copper Toxicity. An ultrasound has not been performed yet.
If she had copper toxicity would it be considered hepatic necrosis due to her age?
What would be the best steps to take for a proper and complete diagnosis?

With bile acids being
With bile acids being normal I doubt the liver is an issue. For cns signs to be elevated owing to hepatic encephalopathy then BAs haved to be up. Copper toxicity will bring ALT/AST elevations which arent present here. Scanning the abdomen looking for congenital abnromailities is not a wrong thing but sounds like a primary CNS approch is necessary maybe with MRI ad CSF tap?
I would take her to a neurologist for a full cns workup.

Patient is a bit young to
Patient is a bit young to have copper toxicity. With the history, normal bloods, and aniscora primary CNS disease would be most likley. What is the animal’s vaccination history as distemper is an important consideration. Work-up would be CSF and MRI.

Thank you both Dr.Lindquist
Thank you both Dr.Lindquist and Dr.Lobetti, sounds like a CNS work up is the way to go.
