endocarditis?

Sonopath Forum

Dear All,

This is a young dog with mild hyperthermia, normal haematology and biochem. values.

The dog had fever, and a mild cough for 2 weeks- received antibiotics, and now came to me to check his heart.

Normal left-right ventricle volumes, and normal wall thickness, normal Ao/LV ratio. But i have seen serious regurgitation at the level of the aortic valve, and also the outflow blood speed was elevated. (outflow trackt speed: 4,3 m/s, and regurg speed: 4 m/s)

I did not find on B mode image signs of SAS, and also the LV thickness was normal to me.

What do You think? Should i be concerned fo bakt.endocarditis?

Should i give the dog further antibiotics?

Thank You

endocarditis possible but i

endocarditis possible but i would think more of valvular sas and secondary AI. Its moderate at that velocity but more significant compensatory changes occur when > 5 m/sec
