Didn’t stick this, whatever it is…. it’s my own cat, I can knock her out again if needed.  Figured I’d wait and see what spleen and liver showed.

Thank you!  Karen

Not definitive but I would

Not definitive but I would guess an echogenic perinephric lymph node, focal area of steatitis, or some type of granuloma. Its not shadowing so it doesnt look like a Bates Body. I dont think its a mass. The renal sinus in that kidney appears hyperechoic, possibly inflamed, so I wonder if its an extension of that.

Thanks Mac!  That makes

Thanks Mac!  That makes sense.  Thank you for running through your thought process on it!

I ended up sending the case in.  Eric read it out very similar to that…. possible LN?

Karen, what did the liver and

Karen, what did the liver and spleen cytology show?

Ah yes, important details!

Ah yes, important details!  See below.  Pathologist suggested PCR testing (may pursue that today, I have my slides) and I’m getting chest rads done this morning as there was a Comet Tail pattern of the lungs through the diaphragm.  🙁

I’m open to any suggestions Mac.  I may also do an Internal Med Consult depending on what the rads, CBC path review, PCR show.

INTERPRETATION OF THE FINDINGS & FURTHER RECOMMENDATIONS

Liver – Hepatocytes with cytoplasmic granularity and increased numbers of lymphoid cells

Spleen – Large numbers of round cells suggestive of lymphoma

Thanks!!

Ugh sorry to hear that Karen.

Ugh sorry to hear that Karen. Pending chest rads, I agree to further clarify the lymphoma and internal medicine or oncology consult with chemo. I dont see it in the kidneys.
