Sonopath Forum

  • 8 year old YST being treated medically for hepatic encephalopathy (with success) for one year
  • Pre and post BAST high (64 and 88, range 0-10), albumin moderately decreased 17 (26-40), liver enzymes x4 upper limit
  • Am I seeing the shunting vessel here, how would you classify it?
  • I don’t think I will ever enjoy the shunt hunt, she was also as stiff as a board and had a stomach full of food.

Actually you did a nice kob

Actually you did a nice kob positions 12 ad 13 sdep. I took screen shots of video 1 and end of video 2 looks like a vertically directed splenoazygos shunt as I cant connect it to the cvc and it goes further dorsal, cvc ao ratio is normal and with an older dog and moderate BA elevation it all fits splenoazygos. Likely can treat it medically as these have a lower shunt fraction. CT to confirm of course.

You can download our abstract and ppt for free here from ecvim 2010 if you wish
