- 6 year old mountain dog initially presented with exopthalmos and possible retrobulbar abscess
- Resolved with course of antibiotics
- Represented with swelling on side of head between orbit and ear
- CT – multicavitatory fluid filled space-occupying lesion of right peri-orbital region with surrounding steatitis compatible with abscess granuloma. Mild periosteal reactions of right zygomatic bone and reactive lymphadenopathy. No FB detected.

- Scanned today but swelling had decreased as was on antibiotics again – only small pocket of fluid with hyperechoic area within – do you think this is a foreign body or just some soft tissue?
- I aspirated the small amount of fluid which was blood tinged fluid

I would drain that fluid filled region fully us guided and cytology the tissue in the near field to be sure its just granulomatous and not neoplastic. May need to place a drain. I dont see a fb & the pattern suggests cellulitis.
