Hernia?

Sonopath Forum

Hello

This is Josie a 14 year old cat that has had 3-5 years of chronic vomiting and diarrhea; has been worked up extensively at regular vet including abdominal US that indicated thickened bowels at regular vet.

The clients have moved to our area and we repeated the US. I found that the stomach was in an odd position and I believe I can see the liver and a portion of the SI in contact with the heart. We performed xrays and there is an opacity between the heart and liver but cannot see any gas filled structures. The stomach is not visible on any view and does not appear to be in it’s proper location on the xrays. I was hoping for some opinions on the following US images.

Thanks you. Brent

Thanks for the post!

Thanks for the post! Hepatization of the lung lobe crossed our minds but the X-rays show a little radiopacity at the apex of the heart. We usually see the consolidation from pnemonia at the Right middle. I also feel like I’m seeing bowel in the very near field. I tried as many different positions as I could and these unfortunately were the best.

Thanks

EL

As an added note on some  GI

As an added note on some  GI bloodwork the vitB12 was low possibly indicating malapsorption which was our initial thought. However the creatine is 20X elevated giving a little more credit to the hernia therory. Thanks. Brent
