I would need Your help in this case please:
This is a one year old vizsla dog, which drinks a lot since his birth ( 5 liter per day). Since yesterday he vomits a lot, he is so week, that he barely can stand. He is also producing epileptic seizures.
His biochemistry revealed normal renal function, UA is within norm. limits. ALT is slightly elevated ( 130). Bile acids and ammoniak is pending.

Abdominal US: the liver appears really small- the stomach reaches the diaphragm on the left side, and a large intrahepatic vessel is seen near the diaphragm. V. cava/v. portea/aorta ratio look normal to me. The kidneys look also swollen to me… I haven’t diagnosed a shunt before, so this time I tried, but I am not sure. Please help me.
Thank You really much, and I wish You a Happy New Year!

This is an intrahepatic shunt
This is an intrahepatic shunt but I can’t tell what type. Need more views positions 11-14 on the SDEP protocol for example (https://sonopath.com/products/downloadable). Swollen kidneys fit with shunt. Erroneous ammonia metabolism drives the polyuria if Im not mistaken. Check out our shunt research as well on sonographic detection of PSS (http://sonopath.com/resources/research-publications). Looks like vascular plug is th eway to go with an interventional radiologist… Chick Weiss at AMC if near NYC has the most experience that I know of in the US but more are doing them now.
Thanks for the infos:)
