Debo, 9 yr, MN, pit bull with an axillary mass between the shoulder and chest wall. r DVM FNA revealed a lipoma. Concerns this is not a lipoma.
Fine needle aspiration was performed using ultrasound guidance to aspirate some of the more specific abnormal areas but lipid material was all that was aspirated.
Concerns this is a spindle cell tumor as I don’t think it looks like a typical lipoma.
Color flow did not reveal any significant blood flow.

Very aggressive round cell
Very aggressive round cell neoplasia pattern here. Sometimes fat plugs up the needle int he 1.5-2 cm of fat before th ehypoechoic area is accessed even if it looks like its in the mass if the needle is plugged then recovery will be poor. Or he didnt get deep enough. Fat obscures pathology often. You can take a 20 gauge and ensure you get it into the hypoechoic region and corskdscrew technique to ensure recover should come up pink brown creamy type of slide. Otherwise you can USG core bx into the same region just avoiding vasculature.
